Dear Members of NYSSRS and our Esteemed Community,

Happy October and start of the Fall Season! I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer. I am sure that everyone can share the same sentiment, that the summer months certainly flew by! We are very quickly approaching our 76th Annual NYSSRS & 4th dual NYSSRS & RTANYS Conference. Reminder, that the dates of the conference are Thursday October 23rd – Saturday October 25th, 2025, at the Rivers Casino & Resort/The Landing Hotel in Schenectady, NY. Your Board Officers, Committee Chairs and Committees have been working diligently to ensure a wonderful conference experience for all.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some important conference updates and reminders:

1.      Bylaws Updates: Our Bylaws committee has proposed changes to our bylaws after conducting a bylaws review. Our current bylaws, the proposed bylaws and a grid explaining the changes with rationales has been posted to our website for you to review prior to the bylaws meeting, which is scheduled for Friday October 24th, 2025, at 2:30pm before the Quiz Bowl.  The posted documents are located for viewing on our website at the following link: https://www.nyssrs.org/BYLAWS-&-HISTORY. Please take some time to review the proposed changes prior to 10/24.

2.      Conference Schedule:  The conference schedule is posted on our website homepage. We are very excited for this year’s slate of speakers! We are eager to hear their diverse range of topics and areas of expertise. I would like to point out that we are hosting our 1st Individual Student Challenge! This activity will take place Thursday evening. Educators: Please make sure that your students are aware of this activity so that all students may participate in this exciting event. Please note, that conference registration starts Thursday at 1:00pm. Late lunch/early dinner is on your own – there are many options for food in the casino and in the Schenectady area. The conference ends Saturday at 2:30pm. Please plan accordingly.

3.      Hotel Room Rate Deadline: The hotel room rate of $155.00/night expires TOMORROW. After 10/2/2025 at 11:59pm, the conference hotel room rate will no longer be available. If you are planning on booking a room and staying at the Rivers Casino & Resort/The Landing Hotel at this discounted rate, please follow the instructions of the pdf document posted on our Events page on our website. This includes instructions on how to book your hotel room: https://www.nyssrs.org/page-18155. If you miss this opportunity or would like to stay elsewhere, there are many other hotels in the area that are close by.

As we approach the Fall 2025 annual conference, I look forward to seeing familiar faces, and meeting new members!

Best regards,

Kullen C. Bailey MS R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT)

Dear Members of NYSSRS and our Esteemed Community,

Happy New Year to all! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season shared with friends and family. It was great to see everyone at our 75th Annual NYSSRS & 3rd dual NYSSRS & RTANYS Conference this past November at the Doubletree Hotel in Schenectady. It is always heartwarming to see familiar faces reconnect and share new personal and professional experiences with each other. It is through networking opportunities, such as these conferences, that we collaborate and form innovative ideas to help our society continue to grow and flourish. I would like to extend my gratitude to our new and returning professional members, associate members, student members, and vendors who attended the event. Without your continued support, NYSSRS would be unable to achieve its mission.

As I step into the role of President of NYSSRS, I am filled with a sincere sense of enthusiasm, appreciation, and responsibility. As a practicing radiologic technologist and radiography educator, I cannot help but think back on my first day as a student radiographer. On this first day of class, the program faculty gave us students some words of advice to thrive in the field of medical imaging: “Accept change easily.” These words have developed into a mantra that helps me grow through life professionally and personally, as the only thing that seems to be permanent is change itself. With the help of our dedicated team of board members, I am eager to instill these words of wisdom, while also balancing our society’s longstanding ideals, morals, values, and vision, as our organization continues to grow. The upcoming year will be filled with some exciting changes, professional development, and opportunities for us to advocate for our profession across New York State, including:

1.     76th Annual Conference – NEW VENUE Fall 2025: After reviewing your feedback from the 2024 conference, we are pleased to announce that the 76th Annual NYSSRS & 4th dual NYSSRS & RTANYS conference will be held at Rivers Casino & Resort/The Landing Hotel in Schenectady, NY. This year, the conference will be held Thursday October 23rd – Saturday October 25th, 2025. Please mark your calendars! Conference registration and hotel booking information will soon be sent to members via e-mail and will be posted on our website at nyssrs.org

2.     Educational Opportunities: We are in the process of arranging a free online Continuing Education credit to be provided to our members. Information will be forthcoming and posted on our website.

3.     ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting: This year, the ASRT House of Delegates meeting will be held June 19th – June 22nd, 2025, in Reno, NV.  Our Delegates this year are me and Tabitha Sabater. Our Alternates are Courteney Oare and Robert O’Brien.

As we begin the new year together, I look forward to working with you all to continue to elevate and promote the highest standards of patient care to our communities and to protect the general welfare of our profession.

Best regards,

Kullen C. Bailey MS R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT)
